Are you wondering how many windows should a living room have?
Whether you are building a new house or doing a renovation and remodeling, the living room should have windows but the question is, how many windows should a living room have?
A living room should have one or two windows large enough to provide adequate ventilation and daylighting needed in the living room.
A living room is also known as the sitting room. It is a room in a house where guests are entertained. Not all guests are qualified to enter your room upon visitation but with the living room, you can have the guest relax there while you entertain him.
A living room can also serve as a parlor and the reason is that the living houses most of the things found in a parlor such as a sofa or couch, table, TV, and many more. It is a place of relaxation.
How Many Windows Should My Living Room Have
A living room should have one window that is large enough to provide enough ventilation and daylight required for daily living.
However, a living room can have two or three windows depending on how big the living room is and the preference of the house owner. If the living room is large, it will be odd to have one small window as it may not bring in enough ventilation and daylight needed in the room. In this situation, the house owner can decide to either have two windows or have one large window in the living room.
For example, in my apartment, I only have one window in my living room and the reason is that the room is not large enough for two windows. So whether you want to have a long or short window, it should be at least one or two windows.
Things to Consider before Installing Windows in the Living Room
It is important you consider these factors explained below. These factors are:
The Size of the Living Room
Before the personal preference of the homeowner, the size of the living room plays a huge role in this case. If the living room is small, the homeowner is expected to install one large window and if the room is large, you can go ahead with two windows.
Your Personal Preference
What is your preference? Of course, two windows is more advantageous than one window. Two windows mean more ventilation and more daylight. Which do you prefer?
After choosing the number to have from your preference, make sure to verify the size of the living room and see if the size go hand in hand with your preference, if it does not concur, then you may have to make another choice.
The Quantity of Ventilation Needed
You should be able to consider the amount of ventilation you will be needing in the living room. You should consider this having the nature of a living room and the things we do inside there at the back of your mind.
